Automated 3D morphometric difference biomarker for abnormal ventricular morphology

چکیده
Background Left-ventricular (LV) shape remodeling has known association with cardiac pathophysiology and dysfunction. While a prolate spheroid shape is vital for optimal cardiac function, LV dilatation and high sphericity is characteristic of cardiomyopathy. Early quantification of abnormal LV morphology may potentially guide clinical decisions to check disease progression. However a quantitative biomarker of 3D LV morphometry is found wanting in routine clinical practice as an upgrade to the rudimentary sphericity index. Methods Spherical harmonics (SPHARM) shape descriptors were sought to quantify patient-specific LV shape. Morphometric variation from a normal LV shape was studied with application to diagnostic identification of cardiomyopathy. Cardiac MR (CMR) was employed for anatomical examination and end-diastolic LV endocardial surface models were segmented from short-axis SSFP cine scans of 11 pediatric subjects between the ages 2 and 17. Surface models were individually registered by rigid transformation and scaling to match the LV base diameter of a reference 17

To investigate 3D morphology and biomarker profiles in a population of early onset TMJ Osteoarthritis (TMJ OA) subjects. Twelve subjects and controls underwent an exam and obtained a Cone beam CT (CBCT), as well as TMJ arthrocentesis and venipuncture. CBCT Datasets were used to construct 3D models of all condyles. Average OA and health models were created. 3D Shape Correspondence determined are...
متن کاملAutomated and Accurate Detection of Soma Location and Surface Morphology in Large-Scale 3D Neuron Images
Automated and accurate localization and morphometry of somas in 3D neuron images is essential for quantitative studies of neural networks in the brain. However, previous methods are limited in obtaining the location and surface morphology of somas with variable size and uneven staining in large-scale 3D neuron images. In this work, we proposed a method for automated soma locating in large-scale...
متن کاملAssessment of strain and mechanical dyssynchrony indices in single ventricle populations by cardiac magnetic resonance feature-tracking techniques
Background Single ventricle (SV) physiology consists of a single pumping chamber that provides both systemic and pulmonary blood flow. The typical quantitative measurements of ventricular function (i.e. ejection fraction) cannot be accurately applied to single ventricles due to abnormal ventricular morphology. Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) has become a leading diagnostic tool in the assessme...
